Established in 2014 and sponsored by the Fédération des cégeps and the Association des collèges privés du Québec, this award is presented annually to a researcher from the college network who stands out for the excellence and influence of their work and actions.

Holder of a PhD in immunology, Mr. Boutin has successfully combined teaching and applied research for over 26 years. He is part of the faculty team for the Laboratory Techniques program, which includes two specializations: Biotechnology and Analytical Chemistry. Concurrently, he conducts research as Head of the Cellular Biology and Microbiology sector at TransBIOTech, one of the two College Technology Transfer Centers (CCTTs) of Cégep de Lévis.

“We are very proud to have Mr. Boutin on our team, an excellent researcher whose passion inspires our students, enabling them not only to grasp the latest scientific advancements but also to actively participate in them. This award is fully deserved,” explains Philippe Aubé, General Director of Cégep de Lévis.

A recognized center both locally and internationally

Mr. Boutin played a key role in the establishment and influence of TransBIOTech, which is now recognized in Quebec and internationally. He has collaborated on hundreds of applied research projects conducted in partnership with companies in the pharmaceutical, biomedical, food, and cosmetic sectors. Among his most significant contributions are his collaborative works with the Institute of Nutrition and Functional Foods (INAF).

“Through his work in cellular biology, immunology, and microbiology, Mr. Boutin played a key role in advancing biomedical innovations now accessible to patients, pets, and the general population,” states Luce Tremblay, Interim General Director of TransBIOTech.
